What habits do successful people have and how can you become a master at creating successful habits?
You must form good habits and make them masters rather than allowing bad habits to form. Aristotle summed it up well; “95% of everything you do is the results of habit”. This statement is true of both negative and positive habits.
The good news is that all negative habits are learned and can be unlearned or replaced with better habits. If you make a list of things you do every day you will soon find out what habits you have, good and bad
So how do you develop a positive successful habit? It is as simple as pure practice and repetition!
Here are some of the daily habits of successful people:-
Daily goal setting: Make a list of all the goals you want to achieve. You could keep a diary of your goals, for the day, week, month, year and so on. If you break it down to daily bite size chunks you are more likely to achieve your goals. Make sure you can see your goals, put them up in your office, pin them on your notice board, stick them on your fridge, because, you achieve what you think about most of the time.
Be results focused: Successful people think “what are the most important tasks I can do right now to achieve my most important goals and get results?” Again, make a list of everything you have to do and make priorities on the list. Now think about this. From that list if you could do only 1 activity what would it be? What is the most important thing that absolutely must get done? Now start with this activity and discipline yourself to work non-stop until you complete this activity. This one technique alone has taken people to unbelievable success all over the world.
Be people focused: You should recognise that everything you achieve in life is with the support, help or cooperation of other people, so you must think, “what is it that other people want and need from me? How can I help other people, so they want to help me back?” If you are in sales you should think, how can we help our customers?
Focus on your Health: Successful people are always health conscious, they eat the best healthy food, they exercise and get lots of rest. Make sure you are looking after your health and are getting enough rest.
Stay honest: you must always tell the truth!
Take Personal Responsibility and be Self-disciplined: this is the foundation habit that makes everything else possible. No one is going to do it for you in business, you need to be disciplined and be persistent. Do you know what the definition of self-disciplined is? It is the ability to make yourself do what you should do, when you should do it, whether you feel like it or not. It’s the ability to be accountable for your actions. It is easy to do something when you feel like doing it, however, the hardest thing is doing something when you don’t want to, this is what differentiates the successful from the rest of us.
So if you want to change your mindset to that of a successful person you could start with answering this first question; What is the one habit that you must start to develop right now that will help you more than any other habit to achieve your most important goals?
